WHO IS THE FOUNDER OF THE Melya Cosmetics BRAND?

Melya Thorley, a Canadian born Shropshire businesswoman. You can read more about Melya here.

WHAT IS THE FOUNDER’S BACKGROUND?

Born and raised in Toronto Canada, Melya trained in the UK as a Designer in the Fashion Industry. Her previous experience includes ladies and children’s clothing, nursery products and babywear, home furnishings and bedding, working for many years at Director level to supply major High Street Retailers in the UK and Europe.

If you were born in the 1980’s or early 90’s it is likely that Melya designed some of your nursery products, baby and children’s clothing.

WHAT IS THE STORY BEHIND MELYA DEVELOPING HER OWN BRAND OF COSMETICS?

In 2011 and with over 30 years of experience in the design, development and supply of new products in fashion, home furnishings and latterly in professional artist and cosmetic brushes, Melya set up her own successful business as a Consultant in the development and supply of high-quality makeup brushes to major cosmetic companies and brush suppliers in the UK, USA, Asia and Europe.

Working closely with professional makeup artists from around the world, including those involved with theatre, film and TV who demand the highest quality brushes provided Melya with a valuable insight into the importance of makeup brushes and cosmetic products performing in harmony. From this she recognised an exciting opportunity to develop her own range of cosmetics based on her experience.

CAN I BUY MELYA COSMETICS INTERNATIONALLY?

We currently only deliver to UK addresses.

IS YOUR RANGE SUITABLE FOR ALL AGES AND SKIN TYPES?

Yes, and our fabulous colours give you the freedom to create the best version of you!

DOES THE RANGE INCLUDE ANY BENEFICIAL INGREDIENTS?

Yes, the Hi – Def Foundation and the Liquid Magic Concealer are an anti-aging formula containing Collagen, the Lite Foundation contains the antioxidant vitamin E and wheat germ to improve skin’s elasticity.

Lipsticks and Lip Gloss ranges contain the antioxidant vitamin E and natural vanilla extract to soothe and moisturise the lips.

Intense Mascara contains vitamins A, C and E and is perfect for sensitive eyes or contact lens wearers.
The 100% Pure Loose Powder Foundation and Green Corrector Loose Powder are vegan and gluten free, they offer anti- inflammatory properties perfect for skin disorders.

ARE YOUR PRODUCTS SUITABLE FOR MEN?

Yes, many of our products are suitable for men!

WHICH PRODUCTS ARE MOST OFTEN USED BY MEN?

Professional Primer, Foundation, Concealers, Brow Tamers (may be used in beards to cover up the odd grey hair), Mascara.

ARE YOUR PRODUCTS HAND BAG / HAND LUGGAGE SIZE – under 100ml?

Yes, they are full size products ideal for business and holiday travel or as gifts.

CAN I BUY SAMPLES OF MELYA COSMETICS?

Yes, we provide samples of the Foundation at minimal cost and with free postage – please refer to the “Samples” menu on the website

HOW DO I DETERMINE WHICH SHADE OF FOUNDATION I REQUIRE WHEN SHOPPING ON LINE?

First, look at the veins on your wrist to determine your undertone; if they look green, then you have warm undertones, if they look blue, then you have cool undertones. People with warm undertones have more yellow and olive in their skin compared with those with cool undertones who have more pinks and blues in their skin.

HOW DO I SELECT THE CORRECT FOUNDATION SHADE?

It is important to match your foundation colour to your jawline so that your face does not appear to “float” above your neck.

It is important to know your skin type before sampling Foundation shades; -
Normal to Dry Skin types;- Dewy Foundations tend to work best.
Combination or Oily Skin types;- Matte or Satin Finish Foundations are usually more suitable.

DO MELYA COSMETICS PRODUCTS CONTAIN PARABENS?

Melya Cosmetics products are free of parabens.

WHAT DOES NON COMEDOGENIC MEAN?

Non-comedogenic means that the products will not clog your pores and cause spots.

ARE MELYA COSMETICS NON COMEDOGENIC?

Yes

HOW SHOULD I STORE MY MAKEUP?

You will find this information on our website under the heading “Details” on each product page.
To ensure the maximum durability of cosmetic products, they should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight/heat and with the lids firmly closed.

The shelf life after opening for each product is noted on the product label sticker.

HOW LONG SHOULD I KEEP MY MAKEUP PRODUCTS?

In accordance with the European Cosmetics Directive, a date of minimum durability is only required for products whose shelf-life period is 30 months (2.5 years) or less.

Melya Cosmetics specifies a "period after opening” (PAO) on our product label sticker which is represented by a logo of an open jar with a number followed by the letter M (which represents the number of months). Once the PAO has elapsed, it is recommended to discontinue the use of any remaining product.

Shipping

DO YOU CHARGE EXTRA FOR SHIPPING?

No, delivery is free for a single order delivered to a single UK address unless you opt for UK Guaranteed Royal Mail Special Delivery – next day by 1pm.

Payment

WHICH PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?

Payments must be made in Pounds Sterling. We accept the following major credit and debit cards:-

Credit Cards - Mastercard and Visa.

Debit Cards - Visa Debit, Visa Electron, MasterCard Debit, Maestro and Solo.

The charge will be listed on your credit card bill / Bank Statement as: “MELYACOTRAD” (and total amount charged)

I AM HAVING DIFFICULTY WITH MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION FOR MY ONLINE ORDER.

If you receive an error message related to credit card authorisation failure, double check that the card is current (not expired) and valid. That the billing address on the credit card matches your account billing address, try re-entering your details including the last 3 digits from the security code on the back of your card. If, after validating the information an error message is received at the second attempt, call us or contact your financial institution for further assistance.

HOW CAN I CHECK THE STATUS OF MY ORDER?

You will receive emails to update you when your order has been processed. If you have used tracked delivery then you will also get a tracking code. 

MY ORDER IS MISSING AN ITEM.

If your order is missing an item or something else isn't correct please contact us via our contact page and we will do our best to resolve the issue for you.

WHAT INFORMATION DO I NEED TO REGISTER FOR AN ACCOUNT?

You will automatically be prompted to create an account during the checkout process however if you want to create an account without placing an order you can click on the "user" icon in the top right of the menu which takes you to the account page where you will be able to login or register.

HOW DO I CHANGE MY LOGIN EMAIL ADDRESS OR PASSWORD?

You can change your email, password and other details by visiting your account page and then going to the "Account Details" tab.

I FORGOT MY PASSWORD - HOW DO I LOG IN?

Please note that passwords are case-sensitive. You can reset your password by going to the account page and clicking the "forgot password" link under the login form and follow the instructions to reset it.

Yes – upon proof of Qualifications we provide a discount and we are keen to develop relationships with Professional Makeup Artist

IS THERE A DISCOUNT FOR TRADE PROFESSIONALS?

Yes – upon proof of Business credentials we provide a discount and we are keen to develop relationships with Salons, Spas and Aesthetic Practitioners.

DO YOU HAVE A MINIMUM ORDER REQUIREMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL MUA’s AND TRADE CUSTOMERS?

No, and this is where we differ from many other larger Companies – we offer a trade discount with no minimum order quantity. Yes, you really can buy just one product!

WHAT ABOUT PRODUCT DISPLAY STANDS?

We do not require Trade to purchase large and expensive display stands. Our small modular tabletop displays are available at minimal cost and this means it is easy for you to stock a small range and allow people to buy additional products online
